You, your carer, family member or friend may contact Parklands Cottage directly or a variety of organisations such as the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), Alzheimer's Australia, nursing services, community nurses or medical practitioners may refer you.
The coordinator will make a time to visit you in your home to answer any questions, advise how we may be able to assist you and complete some paperwork.
Service is provided on a relative need basis and there may be a waiting list. The coordinator will advise you if there will be any delay in providing services.
Service User contribution:
We do ask for a contribution towards the cost of the service, but no one is refused because of financial difficulties. Currently, the suggested contribution is:
$10.00 per day which includes morning tea, lunch and activities, plus
$5.00 extra per day if using our transport
We do try to absorb some of the cost of outings, but sometimes an additional cost of no more than $10 will be incurred, which will include transport and lunch. Outings are always optional as our regular program still runs at Parklands.
You are eligible for our services, if you:
Live within the Kempsey Shire, in your own home or with family or a carer
Are over 65 years of age
Have dementia (any age)
You are the carer of someone who fits the above criteria and need a break or time to attend to your own needs
Indigenous clients over 55 years of age
You are a senior who is socially isolated
